An exciting opportunity exists to provide members of the School of Life Sciences with an appropriate range and quantity of high quality media and solutions.  You will prepare and distribute tissue culture media, bacteriological media, sterile solutions and buffers for the School’s research and teaching communities and respond to requests for information about the specifications of media supplied.  In addition, you will undertake accurate administrative tasks and record keeping - including the recording of custom made media requirements and recording daily media production via computer based programs.

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.  

You will have completed an Apprenticeship and require vocational qualification NVQ Level 3or HNC or education to A Level standard or equivalent or relevant work experience in laboratory practices with respect to handling chemicals, safety in the work place.  In addition, you will have good microbiological and biochemical techniques and knowledge of Health and Safety procedures as well as the ability to work in a team and independently.  A good knowledge of the significance of good sterilisation techniques for life sciences research would be desirable.
