For informal enquiries, please contact Mike Kearley (Waste & Recycling Manager) at mike.kearley@warwick.ac.uk.
As Waste & Recycling Manager, you’ll play an important role in caring for our 290-hectare campus, while contributing to the university’s wider sustainability goals.
Driving a large team to deliver an efficient and responsive service, your priority will be to ensure the compliant, cost-effective and sustainable management of all waste streams. This includes organising 6,000 contractor collections per year and the disposal of 3,000 tonnes of waste, as well as road sweeping, graffiti removal and recycling signage and communication.
You will also engage with the campus community to reduce waste and increase recycling.
A key challenge will be working with the Head of Facilities to develop and implement a five-year waste & recycling strategy across the university.
Flexible Working
As our in-house expert on waste and recycling, you’ll need to bring significant experience of developing and implementing waste management systems and processing, as well as recycling initiatives.
A track-record of successfully managing large contracts and major business relationships is essential. You’ll be capable of leading teams and influencing change across a complex organisation. Excellent interpersonal skills are therefore essential, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
A NEBOSH qualification is vital, as is in-depth knowledge of waste legislation and relevant health and safety regulations. Membership of CIWM would be an advantage.
For details on the experience and skills required, please refer to the job description attached as a PDF below.
