Accessibility Statement

Introduction

The accessibility regulations came into force for UK public sector bodies on 23 September 2018.  As from September 23, 2020, all public sector bodies in the UK must comply with AA WCAG 2.1, a standard that outlines digital accessibility regulations for websites and mobile apps. To help you prepare, this email shares information about the accessibility of applications made to the University of Warwick via Oleeo.

Statement

Warwick University is committed to making its websites accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This statement applies to content published here and any elements contained within

We aim to make our website accessible to the widest possible audience. This means, for example, that you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader.

Technical information about the accessibility of our websites

We are committed to making our websites accessible, in accordance with the accessibility regulations.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some job applications and job filters use a 3rd party dropdown select tool named select2 which is known to cause issues for screen reader users. Notably, some aria roles, states and attributes are missing or used incorrectly. This fails WCAG SC 4.1.2, Name, Role, Value.
  • This job site was created by Oleeo for the University of Warwick. Client job sites are individually styled according to client preferences.  We test the base code of these sites with assistive technologies and the colour contrast of new sites is tested when they are first styled. However if you do encounter any issues, please alert us at candidatesupport@oleeo.com and we will work with the University of Warwick to fix the issue.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services. Oleeo does not have control over the job application PDFs on tal.net career sites, as these are uploaded by our clients.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.  This means that the video recorded by users in  our video interview feature will not have captions if they choose to play it back to themselves.

Disproportionate burden

Job descriptions include visually associated labels and text.  The same association is not present for screen readers.  This fails WCAG SC 1.3.1, Info and Relationships.   We have ameliorated this issue by placing both the label and text within a single list item, so that screen reader users have a contextual clue that the 2 elements are associated.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 16 July 2024.

This website was last tested in July 2024 against the WCAG 2.2  AA standard.

The test was carried out by Oleeo using a range of automated tools.
